Do you have little experience using a computer?
Do you want to gain confidence using a computer?
Do you want to brush up on your ICT skills?
Do you want to develop your ICT skills and obtain a basic qualification?
If so then this course may be for you.
This course is for adults who have little experience of using a computer, who wish to refresh basic ICT skills, wants to gain confidence or wishes to prove their skill level with a basic qualification.

Course Details
The objectives of this course will cover -
-
Create, edit a document using Microsoft Word, using a keyboard to enter text and insert an image to create a poster.

Create your own email account and compose and print emails.
Gain an introduction to spreadsheet software and create pie charts, bar and column charts and line graphs from data
You will be encouraged to attend regularly. When you have completed this course you can progress onto the next stage of learning ICT. Our ICT courses progress all the way to Level 2 which is the same complexity as a GCSE ICT Qualification and is regarded as an equivalent Level 2 qualification with employers when looking for jobs.
Entry Requirements
You will need to provide evidence that you have any of the following:

Been a resident of the UK/EU for the past three years.
- Proof of immigration status
- Aged 19+
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Before you can join this course you will be required to complete an initial interview and assessment to make sure the course is suitable for you and identify that you have an adequate level of English. If the outcome of your initial assessment indicates that your level of English is not at the level suitable for this course, then you will be advised to join one of our English classes to develop your skills. It is important that you are able to attend all your classes as not attending reduces your ability to achieve on your course.
The benefits of this course
This course will help you gain knowledge, confidence and skills in basic computer use. This will provide a foundation for progression to study at a higher level and be useful for everyday life in a digital age.
Teaching
All learning at Sandwell Adult and Family Learning (SAFL) is supportive and safe and where possible professional teaching is personalised to the requirements of each learner. Learning support will be provided by the tutor. Teaching is through practical activities, group work and discussion. Full participation will require you to find some time to complete homework, which will be marked and commented on by the tutor with guidance to help you to know how to improve.
How will progress be monitored and assessed?
Your tutor will discuss the work you complete during each session with both verbal and written feedback and help you plan what you need to do next. Final assessment will be through evidence of work you have produced whilst on the course. The work for each topic will be internally moderated prior to external moderation by the awarding body.
Qualification
On successful completion of the course you will achieve the OCR Entry Level Award in Using ICT (Entry 3).
After completing this course, could I progress onto another course?
Your Tutor will discuss your next steps towards the end of your course and suggest further qualifications that may be appropriate. You may like to study further ICT courses or maths and English.
