Course Details
This course offers you the opportunity to learn the skills and techniques required to recycle and transform unwanted garments and linens in order to create a choice of new and useful sewing projects. You will be encouraged to attend regularly. By the end of this course you will be able to complete your own personalised projects.

The benefits of this course
This class will enable you to revise and learn new skills in an informal and fun way, away from the stresses of normal family life.You will have the opportunity to work in an adult environment and have access to a qualified adult and family learning tutor.You will have the opportunity to ask questions and to improve your sewing skills.You will also be able to find out about other available courses.
Teaching
All of our teaching and learning is provided in an environment that is exclusive to adults; this is supportive and safe and where professional teaching is individualised to the requirements of each learner, individual progression in learning is the goal. Learning support will be provided by the tutor. Teaching is through practical activities, demonstration, one to one support, informative handouts and discussion. You will also be able to find out about other available courses.
How will progress be monitored and assessed?
Learning goals are agreed at the beginning of the course between you and your tutor; they are recorded on your individual learning plan.The ILP is used throughout the course to assess how your learning and achievement goals are progressing. The tutor will assess your learning during the sessions and will provide supportive feedback to you. You will be asked to provide feedback about your learning experience via a questionnaire.
Qualification
A Sandwell adult and family learning (SAFL) certificate will be awarded at the end of the course, when you have achieved your agreed learning outcomes.
After completing the course
At the end of this course, you may feel confident to progress to another SAFL course, including Maths, ICT or an accredited English course.
Are there any additional Costs?
You will be required to purchase material to enable you to produce garments. The requirements will be discussed and agreed with your tutor at enrolment.
Equipment Required
Learner will need a standard tape measure, pins, sewing needles, tailors chalk, dressmaking scissors, pattern paper, stationery, folder, fabric, thread and unwanted garments/linens.
