Meet Loriann
When Loriann enrolled on our Functional Skills ICT course in Term 3 2018/19 she wanted to improve her skills to help find new employment. At the time she was working as a care worker and was also covering admin duties with the organisation.
SAFL arranged for her to meet with a Careers Advisor at the Ron Davis Centre to help guide her in making decisions about her next steps and with help applying for jobs.
Whilst studying she also took on more admin duties which increased her confidence in her own skills.
Talking about her time with SAFL Loriann said...
“This course has made a massive difference to my life, because without gaining my Functional skills ICT level 1 & 2, I would not have been given this amazing opportunity to do a job I love.
I now work as an Assessor working with lots of different people and helping them to move on and gain qualifications.
I would like to thank my tutor Sue at the Ron Davis centre for all her help and support. "
Thank you Loriann for taking the time to provide us with this feedback.
Lei's Story
Sandwell Adult and Family Learning (SAFL) has been a turning point in my life.
Before I joined SAFL I had been unemployed for more than 6 years and the job centre was at a loss with me. The Job centre then suggested I improve my English and Maths skills, to improve my chances of getting a job.
At first, I went along to SAFL to enrol on their English and Maths courses but didn't really expect much. However, to my surprise it has been an amazing life changing experience. All of the teachers and other staff were wonderful, helpful and supportive.
Shortly after leaving SAFL with my Level 2 in both English and Maths I started to get interviews come through. Before completing my qualifications with SAFL I didn't even get an acknowledgement from submitting my application for a job.
I have now secured an Admin Officer role with a local MP and I am thankful to both SAFL and my teachers for getting me to where I am today.
I am now doing a wonderful job that I enjoy.
