Course Details

This course is for learners who want to brush up their maths skills and gain confidence before undertaking a qualification in maths.

When you enrol with us we will ask you to complete a simple test. If your level of Maths is above this level then we will refer you to that level Maths course. We do this to make sure you are studying at the right level to ensure your personal growth and development.

You will be encouraged to attend regularly.  When you have completed this course you can progress onto the next stage of learning Maths. Our Maths courses progress all the way to Functional Skills Level 2 which is the same complexity as a GCSE Maths Qualification and is regarded as an equivalent Level 2 qualification with employers when looking for jobs.

Learning support will be provided by the tutor. Teaching is through practical activities, group work and discussion. Full participation will require you to find some time to complete homework, which will be marked and commented on by the tutor with guidance to help you to know how to improve.

How will progress be monitored and assessed?

Your individual learning goals will be agreed at the beginning of the course and recorded on your individual learning plan (ILP).  The ILP will be used throughout the course to assess your progress.  The tutor will assess your learning during the sessions and will provide you with individual feedback.  You will be asked to provide feedback of your learning experience via a questionnaire.
