This course aims to give you the knowledge you need to understand the impact of and key issues surrounding the safeguarding of adults and children. This includes how to recognise, respond to and reduce the likelihood of abuse.

Course Details

Section 1: Understanding the principles of safeguarding adults

In this section you will cover the main types of abuse and harm an individual may be at risk of experiencing, as well as the importance of being treated with dignity and respect when coming forward about a case of abuse.

Section 2: Reducing the likelihood of abuse

This section covers the expected levels of dignity and rights within a care environment and you will examine the importance of individualised care, the various safeguarding policies in place and managing potential risks.

Section 3: Responding to suspected or disclosed abuse

In this section you will look at what course of action to take if abuse of an adult is suspected, as well as local whistleblowing policy procedures.

Section 4: Protecting people from harm and abuse – locally and nationally

This section covers possible barriers to alerting or referring relevant agencies to an alleged case of abuse, as well as legislation in place currently which relates to the sharing of information.

Section 5: Safeguarding children

This section explores what procedures to follow if a child or young person is suspected of experiencing abuse.

Teaching

This course is purely online. You will learn from the comfort of your own home, in your own time and at your own pace. By enrolling on this course you will get access to award-winning learning and assessment materials. 

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but you will need to provide evidence that you have been a resident of the UK/EU for the past three years and aged 19+. You would also need a good level of English in order to understand the course materials and complete the course.  

Equipment Needed

As you would be studying from home you would need an internet connection and access to a computer, tablet or smartphone. 

How will progress be monitored and assessed?

Your learning is completed online through our online learning platform. All assessments are completed on that platform and you receive immediate feedback as they are marked online, automatically. 

Qualification

Successful completion of this course will provide you with a CPD certified Safeguarding Adults and Children qualification that you can add to your CV.

All certificates are available in digital format that you can download from your portal once you have completed the course. A printed copy is available at request for an additional charge. See Costs and Fees below for more information.
