Course Details

This qualification replaces the old PTLLS course. Certifying people to teach at a nationally accredited standard. This Level 3 qualification is for those who work or want to work as teachers or trainers in the further education and skills sector. This includes those currently not in a teaching role, or who have just started a teaching role. This Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introduction to teaching that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching sessions and how to assess and give constructive feedback.

Course Details:

This qualification covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers in the further education and skills sector, such as:

• the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
• inclusive teaching and learning approaches
• assessment of learners
• facilitating learning and development for individuals
• facilitating learning and development in groups
• understanding principles and practices of assessment

Entry Requirements:

You will need to provide evidence that you have any of the following:

  • Been a resident of the UK/ EU for the past three years.
  • Proof of immigration status
  • ​Aged 19+

There are no formal entry requirements. Learners are required to have evidence of level 3 vocational skills for the area in which they will teach/train if they are to progress into teaching in the further education and skills sector. Before you can join this course, you will be required to complete a formal initial assessment for English, Maths and ICT. 

It is important that you are available to attend all your classes as non-attendance reduces your ability to achieve on your course.

How will I learn?

All the classes are run by a qualified and experienced tutor.  Learners will attend set classes each week and experience a variety of learning activities including tutor demonstration, practical activities, role-play, group discussion and research.

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

The qualification will be assessed by a combination of assignments and observation of teaching or training. Simulation of teaching (micro-teaching) is permitted for Unit 2.

What qualification will I get?

City and Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and Training.

After completing this course, what next?

The Tutor will discuss next steps towards the end of the course and suggest further courses/qualifications that may be appropriate.

We also have I.A.G qualified staff who could advise learners on progression and other opportunities.
