Course Details
This qualification will give you the underpinning knowledge that is required to ensure you can successfully work in a range of different environments in a business administration role. You will develop essential knowledge of how to carry out administrative tasks such as how to manage information and supporting events. You will also learn how to apply your knowledge in a variety of industries and job roles. It is an independently accessed course through our online platform with Skills Network. Initial assessments will be carried out in English and pre-course modules in Safeguarding and E-Safety must be completed.
Course Content
The course incorporates seven units:
Unit 1: Principles of providing administrative services
Unit 2: Principles of business document production and information management
Unit 3: Understand communication in a business environment
Unit 4: Understand employer organisations
Unit 5: Understand how to develop working relationships with colleagues
Unit 6: Understand how to carry out business administration tasks
Unit 7: Understand how to prepare text
You will also have to complete a short online module to increase awareness of DSE concepts, understand the health implications and how to use DSE correctly.

Who is the course for?
It’s aimed at learners who are able to work independently online and are wishing to progress with a career in administration.
How will I be taught and assessed?
You will receive subject specialist support from an experienced tutor via email and Teams where required. You use the workbook on the platform to learn remotely, meaning you can study at your own pace, in your own home, at a time that suits you. You would be expected to complete on average one unit every three weeks, with a commitment to 4-8 hours of studying a week. You will submit assignments each week and they will form your final portfolio for assessment.
How can I progress?
The Tutor will discuss next steps towards the end of the course and suggest further courses/qualifications that may be appropriate. Many workplaces require a minimum of Level 2 in English, Digital skills and Maths, if not yet achieved, this would be an encouraged next step. Level 3 in Business administration. Information, Advice and Guidance Level 2 is available. Qualified staff will be available to offer you information, advice and guidance on progression routes and other opportunities.
Do I need to bring my own equipment/materials?
It is essential that you have a laptop, tablet or desktop to complete the modules.
