Course Details

This learning pathway is for adults who would like to find out more about British Culture.  The course will include a range of topics designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of British Culture including the geography of the UK, government, places of interest in the UK, roles and responsibilities of British Citizens and the diverse range of festivals and celebrations in the UK. English skills will be embedded into the course.

British Culture - Improving you understanding of British culture.

Cultural Trip - location to be determined on a course-by-course basis.

British Values Language - Develop your vocabulary as your improve your English skills.

Who is the course for?

This course will help you to gain a deeper understanding of British Culture, helping you to adapt to a life in the UK. You will also develop your speaking and listening, reading and writing skills as part of the course.

How will I be taught and assessed?

You will need to complete an assessment before you join the course, and advice will be given as to the suitability of the course for you. Learning will take place in a supportive environment, where professional teaching will be differentiated for individual learner needs.  Your course will be classroom based and you will take part in with one to one, paired and small group work. Full participation will require you to find some time to complete homework, which will be marked and commented on by the tutor with guidance to help you to know how to improve.

How can I progress?

The course can lead to further learning through Preparing for Functional Skills English Entry and Entry English Functional Skills qualifications.

Do I need to bring my own equipment/materials?

A pen and paper to make notes. Any aids to learning (glasses, hearing aids, etc.).
