This qualification is for learners who want to develop and extend their digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in the digital and creative industries, such as software and programming, network support and digital design. The qualifications are also designed for job roles in other industries where specific digital and IT skills are required, such as finance, marketing, machining and manufacturing.
Course Content
The programme consists of two units:
- Word
- Excel
The programme involves using various functions at a high level to make leaflets/letters and spreadsheets at a level fit for use within a business setting. In addition you will also complete two modules that will support the development of your skills.
- Using PowerPoint

Who is the course for?
These qualifications are for learners who want to develop and extend their digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in the digital and creative industries, such as software and programming, network support and digital design. The qualifications are also designed for job roles in other industries where specific digital and IT skills are required, such as finance, marketing, machining and manufacturing. The course will enable you to revise and learn new skills away from the stresses of normal family life. You will have a qualified tutor and will have the opportunity to ask questions and improve your skills.
How will I be taught and assessed?
You will need to complete an assessment before you join the course, and advice will be given as to the suitability of the course for you. You should have completed a Level 1 or be working towards Level 2 on an initial assessment. Learning will take place in a supportive environment, where professional teaching will be differentiated for individual learner needs. Your course will be classroom based and you will take part in with one to one, paired and small group work. Full participation will require you to find some time to complete homework, which will be marked and commented on by the tutor with guidance to help you to know how to improve.
How can I progress?
The Tutor will discuss next steps towards the end of the course and suggest further courses/qualifications that may be appropriate, at the end of the course, your tutor will advise you of your progression routes which may include Advanced Word and Excel. We also have I.A.G qualified staff who could advise learners on progression and other opportunities.
Do I need to bring my own equipment/materials?
A note pad and pen/pencil would be useful. Any materials needed for the course are provided by us.
