Course Details

These courses will cover the basics of being able to use digital skills to safely use technology in the workplace or for everyday use. This includes:

  • Sending and receiving emails with attachments and using social media.
  • Using word to create and save various documents along with file management.
  • Unsing the internet and file management.

Course Content

There are three different modules that can be completed, each being 10 weeks in length:

Module 1 - Using a Computer

This module will cover the basics of being able to use digital skills to safely use technology in the workplace or for everyday use, including using the internet and file management.

Module 2 - Creating Documents

This module will cover the basics of being able to use digital skills to safely use technology in the workplace or for everyday use.  This includes using Word Processing software to create, format and save various documents, along with further developing file management skills.

Module 2 - Communication & Utility Apps

This module will cover the basics of being able to use digital skills to safely use technology in the workplace or for everyday use.  This includes sending and receiving emails with attachments and using social media.

Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at anyone who wants to live a more independent life by utilising technology, progress in education and in their employment prospects and will enable you to revise and learn new skills away from the stresses of normal family life. You will have a qualified tutor and will have the opportunity to ask questions and improve your skills. At the end of the course, your tutor will advise you of your progression routes which may include further digital Preparation courses or a digital qualification.

How will I be taught and assessed?

You will need to complete an assessment before you join the course and advice will be given as to the suitability of the course for you. Learning will take place in a supportive environment, where professional teaching will be differentiated for individual learner needs. Your course will be classroom based and you will take part in with one to one, paired and small group work. Full participation will require you to find some time to complete homework, which will be marked and commented on by the tutor with guidance to help you to know how to improve.

How will I progress?

The Tutor will discuss next steps towards the end of the course and suggest further courses/qualifications that may be appropriate. We also have I.A.G qualified staff who could advise learners on progression and other opportunities.

Do I need to bring my own equipment/materials?

A note pad and pen/pencil would be useful. Any materials needed for the course are provided by us.
