Business Administration Level 2 Certificate


Course Details

This course provides you with the key aspects to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of administrative practice when working in an office environment. You will need a minimum of 18 credits to achieve the certificate. To do this you should complete two mandatory units (each unit has a credit value) as follows:

  • Working in administration (Level 2) 6 credits

  • Written business communication (Level 2) 4 credits

    The remaining 8 credits will come from optional units such as:

  • Financial transactions (Level 2) 3 credits

  • Handling diary systems (Level 2) 3 credits

  • Welcoming visitors (Level 1) 2 credits

Entry Requirements

This course requires you to have at least level 1 ICT, English (working competently at Level 2) and maths skills in order to support achievement, progression and potential employment. Before you can join this course you will be required to complete a formal initial assessment for English, maths and ICT. 

It is important that you are able to attend all your classes as non-attendance reduces your ability to achieve on your course.

The benefits of this course

The aims of this qualification is to give you the opportunity to develop your:

You will attend set classes each week and experience a variety of learning activities such as tutor demonstration, practical activities including role-play and using office equipment, discussion and research. There will be the opportunity to attend additional supported sessions (arranged with your tutor on need basis).


How will progress be monitored and assessed?

Your Tutor will assess your competence through written tasks, production of documents and observation of practical tasks. You will also record your progress, achievements and reviews in your Personal Learning Plan each session. This qualification is internally assessed by your assessor and quality assurance personnel (e.g. teachers, tutors) and externally moderated by OCR. You will gain your qualification by providing evidence successfully for a portfolio to achieve the unit assessment standards.



You will receive OCR Level 2 Certificate in Administration (Business Professional) qualification if all required units are achieved.


After completing this course, could I progress onto another course?

Your Tutor will discuss your next steps during and towards the end of your course and suggest further qualifications that may be appropriate. You may like to study on an ICT course.
