Course Details
This course offers you the opportunity to learn the techniques required to cut and sew basic garments.
Course Content
You will learn how to take measurements, draft patterns using measurements, cut garments using a pattern, set up and use a sewing machine and stitch garments using different techniques and tools.
You will also complete an addtional learning module which will support your skills development.
- Maths - Measurement- This module will ensure that you develop an understanding of how to use maths calculations when creating garments that are the correct size.

Who is the course for?
This course is suitable for complete beginners, intermediate or advanced learners.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Teaching is through practical activities, demonstration, one to one support, informative handouts and discussion.
How can I progress?
Opportunity to move onto additional sewing courses and other courses within SAFL.
Do I need to bring my own equipment/materials?
Learners will need a standard tape measure, pins, sewing needles, tailors chalk, dressmaking scissors, pattern paper, stationery, folder, fabric, thread and a bobbin.This will be discussed with learners at enrolment.
