Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning

 

The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships.

It’s aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.

Entry Requirements:

You will need to provide evidence that you have any of the following:

  • Been a resident of the UK/ EU for the past three years.
  • Proof of immigration status
  • ​Aged 19+

Learners are expected to have their own placement within a school/college/educational setting in order to be observed in the work place.

​This course requires you to have a good level of ICT, English (working competently at Level 1/ Level 2) and maths skills in order to support achievement, progression and eventual employment. Before you can join this course, you will be required to complete a formal initial assessment for English and ICT. 

It is important that you are available to attend all your classes as non-attendance reduces your ability to achieve on your course.

What are the benefits of this course?

The course is a stepping stone into working within a school environment and can lead onto further qualifications within the framework of working in schools

How will I learn?

All the classes are run by a qualified and experienced tutor.  Learners will attend set classes each week and experience a variety of learning activities including tutor demonstration, practical activities, role-play, group discussion and research.

It is important that learners attend all classes, as not attending reduces their ability to achieve on the course.

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments and direct observations.

What qualification will I get?

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning; all required units need to be achieved 

After completing this course, could I progress onto another course?

The Tutor will discuss next steps towards the end of the course and suggest further courses/qualifications that may be appropriate.

We also have I.A.G qualified staff who could advise learners on progression and other opportunities.
