The objective of this programme is to prepare individuals for employment and support those who are new to the customer service sector and wish to improve their knowledge of this area resulting in the achievement of a nationally recognised qualifications. 


The programme provides learners with the knowledge and understanding in customer service for those who deal, or intend to deal, with customers daily as part of their job role and is applicable to a variety of work environments.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirement for this course is to hold a Level 1 or above qualification in English or be able to show that you are working at Level 1 in English as part of our initial assessment process.


Before you can join this course you will be required to complete a formal initial assessment for English, maths and ICT. 


It is important that you are available to attend all your classes as non-attendance reduces your ability to achieve on your course.

The programme is run by a team of qualified and experienced tutors.  Learners will be expected to contribute to the class this will include group work and production of an individual learning portfolio.

It is important that learners attend all classes, as not attending reduces their ability to achieve on the course an may result in withdrawal from the course.

How will progress be monitored and assessed?

Your Tutor will assess your competence through written tasks, production of documents and observation of practical tasks. You will also record your progress, achievements and reviews in your Personal Learning Plan each session. You will gain your qualification by producing evidence successfully for a portfolio to achieve the unit assessment standards.


You will receive:

  • Level 1 Award in Occupational Studies for the Workplace

    • Developing customer service skills

    • Understanding business communication

  • Level 1 Unit in Understanding Mindset (taken from Employability Award)

  • Level 1 Unit in Working in a Team (taken from Employability Award)

  • Level 1 Award in the Principles of Health and Safety in Work Place

  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate

  • Level 3 Emergency First Aid Work Certificate.

After completing this course, could I progress onto another course?

Your Tutor will discuss your next steps towards the end of your course and suggest further qualifications that may be appropriate. You may like to study on a general ICT course.
