Level 1 Skills for Health and Social Care

 

This qualification is itended to provide you with a broad introduction to the health and social care sector, equipping you with underpinning knowledge and skills specific to the sector alongside a range of transferable employability skills. They are designed to support progression to further learning and ultimately to work in health and social care or other related sectors.

 

Entry Requirements:

You will need to provide evidence that you have any of the following:

  • Been a resident of the UK/ EU for the past three years.
  • Proof of immigration status
  • ​Aged 19+
  • You will need to complete an assessment before you join the course and advice will be given as to the suitability of the course for you. You will need to have English skills at Entry 3/Level 1 and good IT skills to complete the course.  You must be committed to attending regularly and completing home study.

What are the benefits of this course?

This course provides the qualifications in Skills for Health and Social Care link to the National Occupational Standards for Health and Social Care. They provide some of the underpinning knowledge and practical skills that will support progression to a relevant competency-based qualification.  

How will I learn?

All learning is supportive and safe and where professional teaching is individualised to the requirements of each learner. Learning support will be provided by the tutor. You will be taught in an online classroom situation with one to one, pairs and small group work, discussion and themed activities. Full participation will require you to find some time to complete homework, which will be marked and commented on by the tutor with guidance to help you to know how to improve. 

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

Your individual learning goals will be agreed at the beginning of the course and recorded on your individual learning plan.  The ILP will be used throughout the course to assess your progress.  Progression will be monitored through assessment via observation of practical activities, marking of completed work and through group discussion.  The tutor will assess your learning during the sessions and will provide you with individual feedback.  You will be asked to provide feedback of your learning experience via a questionnaire.

What qualification will I get?

Level 1 Skills for Health and Social Care.

After completing this course, could I progress onto another course?

The Tutor will discuss next steps towards the end of the course and suggest further courses/qualifications that may be appropriate.

We also have I.A.G qualified staff who could advise learners on progression and other opportunities.
