Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at anyone who wants to live a more independent life, progress in education and in their employment prospects. The course will cover being able to be able to use digital skills to safely use technology in the workplace.

Entry Requirements

You will need to provide evidence that you have any of the following:

  • Been a resident of the UK/EU for the past three years.

  • Proof of immigration status

Learners should be working at Entry level 1/2 to complete this course.  Before you can join this course, you will be required to complete an initial interview and assessment to ensure the course is suitable and identify that you have an adequate level of English and ICT skills.

It is important that learners attend all classes, as not attending reduces their ability to achieve on the course.

The benefits of this course

This course will develop the digital knowledge and skills needed in most jobs today, giving you the basic knowledge of computer systems. 


All learning at Sandwell Adult and Family Learning (SAFL) is supportive and safe and where possible professional teaching is personalised to the requirements of each learner. Learning support will be provided by the tutor. Teaching is through practical activities, group work and discussion. Full participation will require you to find some time to complete homework, which will be marked and commented on by the tutor with guidance to help you to know how to improve.

How will progress be monitored and assessed?

Your tutor will discuss the work you complete during each session with both verbal and written feedback and help you plan what you need to do next. The Tutor will assess competence through written tasks, production of documents and observation of practical tasks. Regular feedback both verbal and written will be provided by the tutor.   



On successful completion of this course you will recieve a nationally recognised Gateway Digitital SkillsforWork Entry1/Entry2 qualificaion.  

After completing this course, could I progress onto another course?

Your Tutor will discuss your next steps towards the end of your course and suggest further qualifications that may be appropriate. You may like to study further ICT courses or maths and English. We offer ICT courses from entry to a Full Level 2 (GCSE Equivalent). Ask your tutor to find out more.

Are there any additional costs?

There are no fees charged to you.

Your course fees are paid for through the West Midlands Combined Authority, which is government funding.


This course is 2.5 hours a session over 8 sessions.
