Course Details

As a learner you can expect to cover an introduction to food safety, microbiological hazards and controls, personal hygiene, food premises and equipment, food pests and pest control, cleaning and disinfectant and food safety enforcement.

The outcomes you will be working towards are as follows:

• Understand how individuals can take personal responsibility for food safety

• Understand the importance of food handlers keeping themselves clean and hygienic

• Understand the importance of keeping work areas clean and hygienic

• Identify the importance of keeping food products safe 

Entry Requirements

You will need to provide evidence that you have any of the following:

  • Been a resident of the UK/EU for the past three years.

  • Proof of immigration status
  • ​Aged 19+

You will be required to produce evidence of your current certificates demonstrating you are able to work at level 2 standards or complete an initial assessment. 

 

The benefits of this course

The food safety level 2 course is for you if you plan to work in a restaurant, takeaway, pub, guest house, hotel, school, works canteen, nursery, care organisation or anywhere that you may be preparing or handling food. Within the catering industry the level 2 is often the minimum requirement.

 

Teaching

You will attend the full day course which will be delivered by a member of our experienced and well qualified teaching staff. You will use various resources to ensure you cover all the elements of the qualification.  This will be followed by a multiple choice test at the end of the session.

 

How will progress be monitored and assessed?

Throughout the session there will be opportunities for questions and answers in preparation for the final test. 

 

Qualification

Highfield level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF)

After completing this course, could I progress onto another course?

After completing this course you could also enrol on the “Emergency First Aid at Work” course or one of our online CPD certified courses.

Costs and Fees?

£40.00 per person

Concessions are available:

Only £20 per person if you are aged 60+

£0 per person if you are in receipt of Universal Credit, Job Seekers or Employment Support allowance.

 You may wish to bring a note pad and pen/pencil. The workbook will be provided for you.
