Course Details

If you aspire to work in an office in an administrative role and/or are new to administration, then this may be the course for you.

This course provides you with an introduction to the key aspects of working in an office environment. You will need a minimum of 13 credits to achieve the certificate. To do this you will complete the following units:

  • Working in Business Administration 3 credits
  • Creating Business Documents 3 credits
  • Welcome Visitors 2 credits
  • Handling Mail 2 credits
  • Developing Self 2 credits
  • Individual Rights and Responsibilities 1 credit

Entry Requirements

This course requires you to have a good level of ICT (Entry 3 or above) and English (Entry 3 or above) and maths in order to support achievement, progression and eventual employment. Before you can join this course, you will be required to complete a formal initial assessment for English and ICT. 

It is important that you are available to attend all your classes as non-attendance reduces your ability to achieve on your course.

Teaching

All the classes are run by a qualified and experienced tutor.  Learners will attend set classes each week and experience a variety of learning activities including tutor demonstration, practical activities, role-play, using office equipment, group discussion and research.

There will be the opportunity to attend additional supported sessions (arranged with your tutor on need basis).

Qualification

You will receive City and Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Business Administration 

After completing the course, could I progress onto another course?

Your Tutor will discuss your next steps towards the end of your course and suggest further qualifications that may be appropriate. You may like to prgress to Level 2 Business Administration or Customer Service.  Alternatively, you wish to study on a Digital Skills course.

Equipment Required

You may wish to bring a note pad and pen/pencil. Any other materials you need for the course are provided by us.
