Loriann's Story

From Sandwell Adult and Family Learning to supporting and assessing people working towards national vocational qualifications

When she enrolled on Functional Skills ICT course in Term 3 2018/19 with Sandwell Adult and Family Learning (SAFL). Loriann wanted to improve her skills to help her find employment.

She was working as a care worker and covering some admin duties with the organisation.

SAFL arranged for her to meet with a Careers Advisor at the Ron Davis Centre to help guide her in making decisions about her next steps and applying for jobs.

Whilst studying she also took on more admin duties which increased her confidence in her own skills.

Talking about her time with SAFL Loriann said, “This course has made a massive difference to my life, because without gaining my Functional skills ICT level 1 & 2, I would not have been given this amazing opportunity to do a job I love. As an Assessor I work with lots of different people helping them to move on and gain qualifications.

I would like to thank my tutor Sue Brown at the Ron Davis centre for all her help and support.
