Introduction to ICT

 

Details: 

A beginner IT course designed to help improve and practice basic computer skills, building confidence with using a computer in a relaxed and friendly environment.  

This course covers how to get started on using a computer, the mouse, keyboard and monitor to produce simple documents, use the internet to find information and email to keep in touch.

 

Entry Requirements:

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.  However, before you can join this course you will be required to complete an initial interview and assessment to ensure the course is suitable and identify that you have an adequate level of English.  

It is important that learners attend all classes, as not attending reduces their ability to achieve on the course.

The benefits of this course:

This course is designed to help improve knowledge, confidence and skills in basic IT use. It will provide a foundation to study at a higher level and be useful for everyday life in a digital age.

 

Teaching:

All the classes are run by a qualified and experienced tutor.   Learners will be expected to contribute to the class on occasions where there may be some group work and produce individual printed work.

It is important that learners attend all classes, as not attending reduces their ability to achieve on the course.

 

How will progress be monitored and assessed:

The Tutor will assess competence through written tasks, production of documents and observation of practical tasks. Regular feedback both verbal and written will be provided by the tutor.

There are no fees for this course if you are unemployed, and other concessions are available

 

 

This course is 2 hours a week over 5 weeks.
