This course is ideal for parents and children in year 4 and above who would like to learn the basics of first aid.
The course is designed for families to develop and practise first aid skills together. They will be taught to the required standards in order gain awareness to safely, promptly and effectively attend to an adult or child requiring first aid assistance. The 2 hour course will cover: Primary Survey, CPR, recovery position & control of bleeding.
Children must be a minimum age of 8 years.

The benefits of this course
To skills learnt will provide awareness to individuals to provide safe and effective first aid treatment to any person in an emergency situation before professional medical help arrives.
Learners will participate in a variety of practical activities in a fun and relaxed environment.
How will progress be monitored and assessed?
Progression will be monitored through continual assessments via observation of practical activities and question and answer sessions. Feedback will be given verbally to each learner.
Learners will receive a Sandwell MBC SAFL in house Family First Aid awareness certificate that will be valid for three years from the time of completion.
After completing this course, could I progress onto another course?
After completing this course adult learners may wish to progress onto further first aid courses e.g. Paediatric & adult first, AED training and HABC Emergency First Aid at Work.
Are there any additional costs?
The course is fully funded for families whose children attend a Sandwell school
It is recommended that learners wear comfortable and practical clothing.
