Course Details

This is a 10 week course where you can learn to draw and paint still life objects with light and shadow. You will learn how to draw in perspective and correct scale. Learners are encouraged to bring in objects to add to a still life composition and to use a range of pencils: hb-4b and 6b, rubbers, watercolour and acrylic paints and soft pastels.

Entry Requirements:

This course is suitable for complete beginners, intermediate or advanced learners.

You will need to provide evidence that you have any of the following:

  • Been a resident of the UK/EU for the past three years.

  • Aged 19+

What are the benefits of this course?

This course provides an opportunity to develop skills in drawing and painting techniques to create finished pieces of art work. You will improve your skills in relation to observation and how to make objects appear 3 dimensional.  You will work as part of a group in a friendly relaxed atmosphere making this a unique learning experience.

How will I learn?

Full support will be provided by your tutor with demonstrations, practical activities, discussion, one to one support and informative handouts.

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

Learning outcomes will be agreed at the beginning of the course between you and your tutor. Your tutor will assess your learning during the sessions and will provide you with individual feedback while reviewing your achievements. Finished work will be assessed by your tutor at the end of your course.  You will also be asked to provide feedback via a questionnaire and group assessment.

What qualification will I get?

An in house SAFL certificate will be provided when you have achieved your agreed learning outcomes.

After completing this course, could I progress onto another course?

At the end of this course you will be able to enrol on further SAFL or college Art courses.

Equipment Required

Learners will need: Sketch pad, range of pencils, rubbers, watercolour pad/sheets, watercolour paints and brushes, soft pastels, pastel pads/sheets, acrylic paper/canvas.

 

*100% Concession if in receipt of Universal Credit, Job Seekers or Employment Support allowance.  50% Concession if aged 60+.

Your course fees are paid for through the West Midlands Combined Authority, which is government funding.
